Cebu City
Cebu City, one of the oldest cities in the world and is the home of Asia's oldest educational institution, The University of San Carlos built in 1595. It is the Philippines pride when it comes to culture and economy. Considered as one of the richest city in the archipelago, Cebu City boasts of its magnificent rural districts and money making sites. Included in the top 10 producer of ships and sails, Cebu is now globally competitive now that the International Convention Center is already done. Recently, the Asian Summit was held here, thus, giving Cebu the worldwide exposure it needs for additional tourism. Looking back at its history, Cebu is the first place in the Philippines that is visited by the then Spanish colonizers. This is also the place where the first Filipinos where baptized. Cebu City, the center of Cebu province, is visited by almost races of the world. Recent studies shows that 65% of the population of the city is composed of locals while the rest are foreign visitors, expatriates and tourists. The culture of Cebu is highly adaptable to others. It was also put in the Top 10 Asian Cities of the Future by a London based magazine - FDI, along with two other Philippine cities, namely Quezon City and Davao City, of which, is one of the largest city in the world when it comes to land area (rank 32 in the world) and largest in the Philippines. |
